Maine-2022

The 2022 meeting was held in Bath, Maine, the home of nearly 500 years of shipbuilding and coastal maritime activities. Visits and activities at the Maine Maritime museum were highlights of the meeting as well as a boat tour of the Kennebec River provided by the museum. The boat tour included observations of the new Navy vessels being created at the Bath Iron Works, eagles soaring over the river and sites of former tidal mills.

The attendees had a great time riding the rails on the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington narrow gauge railway as well as tours of the repair shop and facilities. Watching the steam engine take on water for the trip was a highlight as well as a stop at the end of the line to watch how the locomotive reverses direction.

There were also historic house tours, including the General Joshua Chamberlain house in Brunswick and the Old Jail and Lincoln County Museum in Wiscasset.

Other activities included a day full of presentations, tool trading, silent auction and shopping at antique stores and LL Bean outfitters in Freeport.
